My AKS-74UN started was built in 1990, turned into ММГ/Deact in mid 2000s, made its way to the USA and is now all mine. The fake suppressor is to meet the barrel length requirement which requires rifle barrels to be 16.1in/409mm without additional paperwork. I need to wait 3-4 months for the paperwork to come back before I can remove the fake suppressor.

In USA the majority of AKS-74U are 1986 kits that were made in russia and imported to bulgaria and then sent to the USA. There are also a number of 100% bulgarian built rifles sold as the Arsenal SLR104-55.

Once it arrived in the USA I had to get an AK74 bolt from a spare parts store in the USA, an American made barrel and an American made receiver. While the original receiver would have been usable it would be illegal to import as it is considered the firearm.


Hopefully I can take this to the range this weekend and see how it shoots!
